Garnet is a natural, chemically inert mineral, which fractures into angular, sharp, irregular pieces when under stress. Our Garnet Sand, which is mined from a hard rock deposit, is among the hardest in the world with a Mohs rating between 8.0-8.5.

Garnet can be found in many different rock types around the world. The chemical composition of garnet varies, resulting in a range of hardness between 6.5 and 8.5 on the Mohs scale, where diamonds, the hardest known natural material, are a 10.

Garnet 16 Mesh Extra Coarse – 4+ mil profile. Heavy mil scale and rust removal.

Garnet 36 Mesh Coarse – 3.5-4.5 mil profile. Used to remove mil scale, rust and thick coatings.

Garnet 80 Mesh Fine – 1.5-2.5 mil profile. Used on new steel and aluminium for light rust or thin coatings

Garnet 16/24 Blend – 3.5-5 mil profile. Used to remove heavy mil scale, rust and thick coatings.

Garnet 30/40 Blend – 2.5-3.5 mil profile. Heavy coating and rust removal while maintaining profile.

Garnet 30/60 Blend – 2-3.5 mil profile. New steel and coating removal with consistent profile.
